Thermal Welding Tonsil Surgery

One of the most common health problems for children is swelling and inflammation of the tonsils.

Especially in the age group of 5-15 years, inflammation of the tonsils occurs in children who are in public during the school period, if they are frequently exposed to bacteria. Many viruses such as adenoviruses, influenza, parainfluenza cause inflammation in the tonsils. If this inflammation is not treated, it causes serious health problems. What is Tonsil? Tonsils are oval-shaped lymphoid tissues located on two sides, right and left, at the back of the throat. Tonsils are responsible for preventing bacteria and germs that enter the mouth from entering the body. Tonsil surgery, also known as tonsillectomy surgery, has been performed for thousands of years and is one of the most frequently performed surgical operations in the world. Tonsil surgeries are frequently performed, especially in childhood, to prevent the occurrence of potential diseases. In Which Situations Is Surgery Necessary? Situations such as tonsils growing larger than normal and blocking the respiratory tract, swelling of the tonsils 4-5 times a year, causing problems such as heart valve inflammation, respiratory distress, sleep apnea, sinusitis, otitis media and fever, necessitate removal of the tonsils even though they are the body's defense mechanism. What is Thermal Welding Tonsil Surgery? It is a new generation tonsillectomy performed through a device called Thermal Welding (UPS). This device uses heat energy and, thanks to its two separate probes, performs the contraction of the vein with one and the cutting with the other. The most common condition is that there is no bleeding during the operation. For this reason, it is known as bloodless and painless tonsillectomy.

What are the advantages of Thermal Welding Tonsil Surgery?

With Thermal Welding, a new generation treatment method, tonsils can be separated and removed in a bloodless and painless way, without using a knife. In this case, the patient remains under less anesthesia and the recovery period is shorter than other traditional methods. It also has a positive effect on post-operative pain. As the tonsils are an area with intense blood circulation, there is a risk of making mistakes in the intervention, such as bleeding during operations and the surrounding area not being visible due to blood. With the Thermal Welding method, the absence of blood during the operation eliminates the possibility of making mistakes during the intervention. Compared to other tonsil surgery methods, Thermal Welding tonsillectomy technique is accepted as one of the best and most successful methods.
