Vision Problems

There are various treatment methods for vision defects that can negatively affect your daily life. The most common and well-known visual defects among the public are refractive problems such as myopia, hypermetropia, astigmatism and presbyopia. Glasses, lenses and surgical methods are determined by experts according to the strength of the refractive error. The most common visual defects are detailed in the subheadings below.

Myopia Myopia is one of the important reasons that may cause vision loss to the patient. While someone with myopic vision has difficulty seeing long distances, they can see close distances clearly. Myopia occurs when the eye structure is long or there is a curved structure in the cornea. Myopia, which is considered a refractive error, is classified as Axial and Refractive Myopia. While Axial Myopia is caused by the elongation of the eyeball structure, Refractive Myopia is related to the positioning of the cornea or lens. Depending on the refractive power, it is classified as Myopia, High Myopia, and Low Myopia. Hyperopia Hyperopia is another important reason that may cause vision loss to the patient. The patient with hypermetropia visual impairment has difficulty seeing close distances. It is a refractive error when the anterior-posterior length of the eye, the cornea or the lens is low, and the incoming rays are focused behind the retina rather than on it. Glasses, contact lenses and refractive surgery methods are used in the treatment of hypermetropia. Astigmatism Astigmatism is one of the important refractive errors. By preventing the incoming rays from focusing on the retina, the interpretation of the object by the brain is impaired. A patient with astigmatism experiences blurred vision regardless of distance.

It is differentiated into myopic astigmatism, hyperopic astigmatism and mixed astigmatism. Appropriate treatment methods for astigmatism are determined by specialist physicians. Presbyopia mechanism in the human eye weakens towards the end of the 40s. This condition causes a gradual deterioration in near vision. Presbyopia is a disorder that can be detected during a general eye examination.

Presbyopia, a vision problem caused by age, is often noticed when the patient does not read text further than 50 cm away and the image becomes blurred while reading something. The patient often requires brighter light when reading more closely than before. In this way, the weakening of vision is noticed by the patient.
