Ahmet Zülküf Erdem was born in Elazığ in 1950. He completed his education in Ankara and graduated from Ankara Atatürk High School. He started his medical education at Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1967. After completing his education at Hacettepe University, he went to Germany for specialization between 1975-1998. He worked as a Specialist Doctor at Essen Klinikum, Germany, between 1975 and 1979. He worked as an Operative Doctor at Hannover Medizinische Hochschule between 1979 and 1983.
